On Sale Now -- Warriors of Risnar: Worlds Apart

After escaping her alien captors, Anneliese Thompson has reclaimed her life on Earth, but she never forgot the Risnarish man who set her free. Now he’s back with an ominous message—the Monsuda are coming for her again. To survive, she must return to his planet and let his people help her. But this former soldier is done sitting on the sidelines—this time, Anneliese wants in on the fight.

Risnar warrior and scientist Nex Clauhahz searches for the former captives he freed from the Monsudan hive. Anneliese’s fire and strength instantly draw him to her. He vows to do whatever it takes to protect her, even if he has to save her from herself.

As alliances are threatened and new enemies are uncovered, Nex and Anneliese search for a way to defeat their common foe. With everything she cares for teetering on the verge of destruction, including her own warrior strength, Anneliese must prove her loyalty and worth—and embrace a second chance at love and a life worth living.

Two warriors...one stubborn despite being injured...the other determined to keep his beloved safe:

As he assessed the situation, Nex told her, “I will carry you to the lavatory. I will carry you wherever you need to go. There is no shame in that.” With her settled in, he moved his attention to the objects he’d hidden beneath the linens draped over the floor.

Blissfully unaware of what was coming, Anneliese protested, “For heaven’s sake, it was only a few yards away. I—hey! What the hell are you doing?”

Nex had grabbed her wrist. Moving fast, he took an older utility belt, wrapped it around her wrists, and tied them to the railings behind her head. Anneliese flailed, but as he’d hoped, she was careful to keep her injured leg immobile. The other, however, she kicked at him. He extended a tail from the base of his spine and pinned the still-strong and dangerous limb down.

He said, “Your refusal to accept help is placing your wellbeing at risk. So I am insisting on your cooperation from now on.”

“You can’t—this isn’t fair!”

Nex had her immobilized. “I don’t care. Enough is enough, especially when it comes to your physical health.”

They stared at each other. Anneliese’s face was filled with confusion, anger, and fear. Those emotions, particularly the hint of alarm, made Nex want to comfort her. He had the idea that gentleness might be misplaced. Anneliese needed to know Nex meant it when he told her to stay put.
