A lot of you have been enjoying the gay erotic stories of the Clan
Beginnings series. The responses to To Clan and Conquer and Clan and Conviction have been
overwhelmingly positive. I am thrilled
to know you delight in the early stories of the clans. But with every success comes a problem or two
often unforeseen. From the emails and
comments I’ve been getting, I have just such a problem on my hands. There are quite a few of you who wish to see
the man love so central to the Clan Beginnings series spill over into the Clans
of Kalquor series. Some have even
complained that Alien Refuge, the
first Clans of Kalquor book following To
Clan and Conquer, did not go into heavier intimacies between the men.
As far as having the men get hot and heavy with each other in the Clans
of Kalquor series, I’m going to be blunt about the matter here: it’s not going to happen.
Now before any of you kick and scream, allow me to explain. A substantially large number of my readers
are not into gay erotica. They adore the
Kalquorians, but they also have absolutely no interest in reading about men
making love with men. I understand and
respect that. Man-love fiction is not
for everyone, and it usually has nothing to do with homophobia. Gay erotica simply doesn’t do it for some
readers.
For my beloved FoKs who only enjoy sex scenes featuring males with a
female, fear not. The original Clans of
Kalquor series will go no farther than the little hints of man-on-man such as
what you’ve seen in the previous books.
For those of you who have been clamoring for the boys to be more
intimate in that series, please understand that I have a mortgage and bills to
pay and I am not going to ostracize a large portion of my readership for the
minority. The Clans of Kalquor series is
my bread and butter, and I am not going to screw that up. Besides, I myself enjoy seeing the heroine
being the focus of a clan’s adoration.
We women should be the center
of the universe. ;)
That being said, the books outside of the original series are another
matter entirely. Obviously, the Clan
Beginnings series consists almost exclusively of men loving men. Ditto for the upcoming Companions books,
which will feature Earther men seduced by Kalquorian men. I personally love gay erotica, and I am
delighted to keep writing it as much as possible.
There is more. My plans for the
book that will feature Dramok Sojan (from Alien
Interludes’ ‘Prelude to Redemption’) include healthy helpings of both
male/female and male/male interactions.
Several books are being tentatively planned for the time period of the Kalquor/Earth
War and the post-Armageddon rescue efforts.
These books could also include bisexual interactions. And for a really different walk on the wild
side, Michaela and Clan Korkla are getting their own book ... you will remember
Michaela is intersex (a hermaphrodite), so that will be a most interesting
foray into taboo eroticism.
There is something for everyone in the Kalquorian universe. Obviously, I cannot write a single book that
will please every individual who reads it.
All I can do is write the books that come from my heart and soul. I like the original series as it has played
out so far and will keep it going in the same way without apology. Ditto for the Clan Beginnings books. If you wish to leave less than stellar
reviews because there isn’t enough man love or there is too much man love,
that’s your call. I’ve quit reading
reviews anyway because I’m no longer going to beat myself up for not meeting
every person’s expectations. If I did, I
couldn’t keep writing.
Sweeties, I know you’ve got a lot invested in Kalquor because you tell
me you do. I’m elated that you are swept
away in this universe. However, I must
reiterate ... I have to write the books that speak to me. You may not always like where I go with my
stories, but that is the nature of the beast.
Just because a particular book is not telling the story as you would
like to read it does not mean others aren’t enjoying it. It doesn’t mean I didn’t spend gallons of
blood, sweat, and tears on it. It simply
means it wasn’t the story for you.
So there you have it. The Clans
of Kalquor series remains m/f/m/m with the focus on heterosexual sex. Clan Beginnings is all about men enjoying
intimate relationships with men. They
will remain separate entities as far as that is concerned for the foreseeable
future. I hope you continue to enjoy the
ride.
Much love, my hot and crazy FoKs.
I've enjoyed them all so far. Looking forward to the new stuff too! No complaints here.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely no complaints here, I'm enjoying every Kalquorian book you write and am impatiently awaiting your next book!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm trying to get the next one out asap.
DeleteI love your books just the way they are, keep up the great job
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have commented. I just had to say that I agree whole heartedly to what you are saying here. Different people like different things, think how boring it would be if everything was the same. You keep going how you are. I definately enjoy reading your stories.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Our differences are most definitely the spice of life. :D
DeleteI agree, you are doing a great job. I have loved all the stories. I must admit that I was skeptical that I would enjoy the Clan Beginnings series, but To Clan and Conquer is one of my favorite books. Keep writing from the heart, it's working.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you gave it a try and you ended up enjoying it. Thanks!
DeleteFirstly, I would like to say I have completely enjoyed your stories. You are now among my most favorite authors and one of the very few that I have on my 'buy it as soon as it's released' list.
ReplyDeleteI had avoided your 'To clan and conquer- Clan beginnings' book because I have never read gay erotica before and didn't think I would like it. Then I got to the end of your list of available books and started reading your 'Shalia' blog, which was driving me a bit mental having to wait for the next installment every week, so I thought I would give it a try.....who knew??? It was one of my favorite books I've ever read and then I read you were publishing another one and waited impatiently until it was released, bought it the same day and gobbled it right up. I'm not sure if I would like any other author's gay erotic writing but I sure as heck like yours...just a lot!
Please keep sharing your enticing visions with us. When I'm reading one of your stories, it feels like it could almost be real and I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next and darn it, I want my own clan.
Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed trying something out of your comfort zone and it worked out.
DeleteI am trying to convince hubby two more guys in the mix would be worth a shot. He's not buying it, so I don't get a clan either. *sigh*
You and Kalquor have opened my eyes to a number of new things, including books I would never have read before. Keep up the good work and ignore the negative Nancy's. I hope I have as much courage with my books (if I ever get the damn things done.)
ReplyDeleteDon't give up! Remember, it took me 9 years to finish Alien Embrace...and here I've gone and re-written it again, lol. *rolling eyes at myself*
DeleteWow 9years?? And I was going to dub you the female Stephen King! I guess once you were on a roll...lol
DeleteI was rereading old posts today and just had a thought...what if a Kalquorian male is strictly hetero? Wouldn't he have trouble attracting the 2 other men necessary for a clan?
Hetero-only Kalquorian man...already exists, you just haven't met him yet. Stayed tuned.
Delete9 years! Shoot me now!
