Question of the Week

Q:  The Clan Beginnings books have really captured my imagination.  I was wondering though,  after they clan a Matara do they continue to have relations with each other?  They seem to be so caught up with each other, I find it hard to believe that they just let it go.
A:  The men continue to enjoy each others' intimate company.  In the regular series, they're just so excited with their new Mataras that the manlove falls to the wayside for a bit. Also, over half of the Clans of Kalquor readers do not want to read male-with-male sexual situations. Therefore, these scenes do not make it into the main series.

Have a question for me? Leave it in the comments, and I might choose it for an upcoming blog!

  1. I suppose i missed that poll because i would love to see the men still be in love with each other even after they find their matara. That was always a sort of lingering question in the back ld my brain when reading any of the main series. Just that i don't want the mataras to come between them... perhaps that was more of a feeling than an actual question. I've wanted to see a clan continue to be involved with each other even after their matara finds them. (I adored Clan Korkla because they seemed to continue to be affectionate to each other at the very least.)

    1. No poll was taken. This is based on sales figures. Clan Beginnings sells at around 60 percent lower than Clans of Kalquor. The figures don't lie...most of my readers do not want to read manlove. But I love writing it, so I will continue to outside of the main series. :D

    2. I had wondered about that too but suspected that might be the reason. It's unfortunate because I do love seeing the men being "affectionate" with each other. I'm just really happy you will continue with the Clan Beginnings. That series is actually what introduced me to MM romance. It never crossed my mind before that I would like it. But I fell in love so hardcore with the clans, there was no way around it. Keep doing such a wonderful job <3

  2. Wow! Someone read my mind. I wondered that myself. I agree with the comment about Clan Korkla, it was the only book that had a little man love after they got with their Matara. I was also introduced to MM romance through your books and love them. Love those Clan Beginnings!

    1. Because Michaela was intersex and it wasn't part of the main series, I was happy to give the guys their time together as well as with their Matara. I enjoyed writing that book a lot.

  3. Sooooooo to get more man on man deliciousNess and some man on man on woman on man love, we need to uy the books twice? Lol I might be down for the cause...lol
In all seriousness though. Your ability to portray such scenes is amazing. And though it doesn't sell as well I hope you continue to write them. Even if you write fewer than the Matara books.

    1. Thank you! Right now, I write one Clans of Kalquor book and one Clan Beginnings book a year. At this point, they are getting equal time, a trend I plan to continue in the foreseeable future.

  4. How do the international Clan of Kalquor books differ from the American versions? Are there added scenes?

  5. Not a big fan of m/m, but your books use this to portray the dynamics of personality and relationships between the guys, and that gives it a different meaning altogether, which I find I do enjoy greatly. I don't know how you do it, but you somehow manage to make highly sexual scenes be about much more than sex.

    1. Thanks! I learned early on that sex in a book is never just sex. It's about forging a bond or tearing one apart at the least.

  6. I like the m/m backstories with clans. It gives us insight into the the clans, their personalities and intimacy. I feel like the clan stories enrich the other alien books because everything is not solely focused on the matara. Dont listen to the polls! Numbers lie! I remember that scene at the pleasure club with the earther male and the clan. I thought it was sweet. Sex isnt just sex. It's like non verbal communication of profound affection and you capture that! For me, the gender thing bleeds away. :-)

    1. I go by sales numbers rather than polls, Pamela. The sales for my m/m/m books are significantly lower than the books that include a woman. So the separation will remain for CoK, with Clan Beginnings giving us in the minority the joy of gorgeous men loving gorgeous men. :D

  7. Are you going to do another short stories book like you did before? I like reading about some of the secondary characters that don't get a full book dedicated to them.

  8. With everything going on, I know this certainly won't be for a while but will we be seeing some of the other spin-off series in the future, such as Clan Companions, other Nuns of Europa, etc? Thank you for writing such fantastic stories for us all to get lost in! I love them and am always looking forward to seeing more. Can't wait for the next one!

  9. I love the Clan Beginnings. I understand if some readers do not prefer the m/m but I seem to love it with the Kalquorians. I would love to have the full reading experience of how a clans true intimacy works (with the matara present). Could be a book of short stories or a more, either way I look forward to reading anything from Kalquor.

    1. Thanks! I have hopes of writing such a book, but with current schedules, it would be some time in the future. :D

    2. I know this is an old thread but I wanted to say I would also love to read a Kalquorian story with the full combinations of m/m/m/f. If I remember correctly in one of the clan beginnings books there's a hot m/m/m scene where a character is ambushed and restrained by his prospective clanmates. I could just imagine how yummy the addition of a matara to a similar scene would be! Would a matara finally get to exert some control over the usually dominant male who's now at her mercy? Would she effectively find herself bound as well by having to play under the firm direction of her other two clanmates while they do as they wish to their two 'submissives'? Oh, the deliciously kinky possibilities!
You have such a fabulous way with words that your take on such a scenerio would be amazing to read. Anyway, as an appreciative fan I thank you for all the hard work you put in to bring us the awesome worlds of your imagination!

    3. Thanks! I do hope to eventually get to a book where an entire clan can fully participate in all ways with each other. It would have to be outside the regular series, however. Right now, my schedule is crammed full, so no idea when I could get to it.

  11. I would love to read a book with just Betra and Oses. Loved those two and I wanted Shalia with them. I am sure I will love the Clan she picks just as much.
