Hope Nath’s thoughts
were wrapped around her younger sister’s hijinks as she traveled the battlecruiser’s
corridor. She controlled the urge to stomp from the teenager’s classroom back
to the department where she worked. She noticed little around her as she went.
The corridors of the battlecruiser Sword
of Truth were ever the same anyway: the carpet beneath her feet going
threadbare, half the computers and readouts set in the walls dim from failure,
musty from the constant recycling of old air. The hum of engines was so
omnipresent as to be unheard now, and she did not note the soft tread of the few
crewmates that hurried past her.
She came back to the
present in an instant when she turned the corner and crashed right into a big,
solid…and immovable…Kalquorian body. The collision knocked her back a couple of
steps.
“Watch it, boy,” the
owner of the body snarled.
Hope looked up and
up at the huge specimen and his even bigger companion. Being somewhat
diminutive, she was used to gazing up at others, but Kalquorians averaged well
over six feet tall. The one she’d plowed into was no exception.
The face staring
down at her blinked blue-purple, cat-pupiled eyes. They were bright eyes in the
well-lit corridor. Intelligent eyes that widened as he took her measure. For a
moment his face, made up of elegant features with the exception of a heavy jaw,
softened with a note of apology. “Oh. Matara?” He gave the bearded brute at his
side a startled expression.
Then the Kalquorian
blockade recovered his composure and scowled at her. “I thought the Earthers
kept their women under lock and key, Captain Kila.”
“Maybe this one
slipped her chains, Admiral.” The other man smirked. Despite the almost
primitive look of him, he had a wild handsomeness that one might ascribe to a
tiger or other beast.
Then with their
faces settling into unimpressed countenances, they stepped aside and continued
on their way without a backwards glance. Hope turned to watch the behemoths
stride in their armored black uniforms that molded to their bodies…especially
their backsides. Hope caught herself admiring the curves before she could help
herself.
Releasing Summer 2017
Finally! News of the next book! Yay! I can't wait. Maybe in this book they'll catch all the rebellion bad guys. (I'm still waiting for them to realize that bi'isil is responsible for the virus that made the women infertile.) I'm looking forward to some comeuppance for Maf and the Holy leader. Please, a nice dose of bloody Kalquorian comeuppance... It'll be interesting to see how Piras' clan manages to romance a Matara while spying on the rebellion. I'm thinking that will be tricky.
ReplyDeleteTricky indeed. Hopefully, I will pull it off. :D
DeleteFunny enough, the detail that the Kalquorians didnt know what caused the virus escaped me for several of the books. It was only after i read most of them that i realized they didn't know it was the bi'isils. For some reason it was so obvious that i just didn't obsorb the fact they dont know.
DeleteIm super excited for this though. I was so damn happy to see a new side to Piras and now i sooo want him to be happy, with the rest of his clan! (Although part of me wants to beg for kindness... dont hurt the colony >_<)
Must have NOW! I have to say, I had only been mildly interested in Piras' story until the blurb had me intrigued. Then I read the book and was like OMG! So good. I'm really curious to see how he will handle a matara and how you will (hopefully) clear his name, which I suspect won't be in this book. Can't wait! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Piras was able to win you over. His interests present a fun dynamic that I think will make this book special too.
DeleteSee...if that was me and i was feeling fiesty, I'd say something like "Looks like the chains weren't done up tight enough. Maybe you think you could do better?"....Oh Tracey! See what your books have turned me in to? >_< Still I love it! As always, looking forward to the next book!
ReplyDeleteHa ha! We think alike. :D
DeleteEagerly looking forward to this one, as well as the next Shalia's Diary!
ReplyDeleteI hope they are both to your liking.
DeleteSummer? It's 80 degrees on March 1st can you count that as summer so I can have the book NOW?!?
ReplyDeleteI don't think you would like it in its present state, lol.
DeleteCan't wait for it to come out I have read all the other books love them
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you'll enjoy this one too.
DeletePatiently waiting......ok, maybe not SO patiently, but close enough. Damn girl, I can't believe you actually got me to love Piras! Love all your books but Clan Beginnings are my favorites. Continue what you are doing.....I'm right here for the journey with you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That Piras is a charmer, once you get past all his barriers.
DeleteYay! I'm so excited for another book, you've crafted such an amazing universe. Thank you for sharing it with us :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm working hard to get it out to you.
DeleteI didn't want to like Piras. I'm a clan Tranis fan.. But I have to say I really enjoyed Piras' book can't wait for summer.
ReplyDeleteI always thought Piras had to have a good reason for the way he acted. Nothing like a broken heart to bring out the worst...I'm glad you got to see him at his best.
