August 2016 Update

I’m a couple of days early for August, but we can live with that, right? I knew you could handle it.

I’m back from a lovely vacation that took me into Canada for a boat ride on the St. Lawrence River plus lunch and dinner (yay poutine and Tim Horton’s coffee!!!), upstate New York for some mountain trail hiking and family visiting, Lancaster County, PA for some train museum fun, and North Carolina to visit more family. Now it’s time to recover from vacation and ready myself for the start of cyber-school with Kiddo.

Oh yeah, and there are books to be written too. Can’t forget about those.

But before I get into the WIPs and where I am on them, I’d like to plug a couple of guest spots I did this past week. First, you can check out the blog I wrote for Fresh Fiction, where I tell the tale of how drunken friends at happy hour are instrumental in developing the hottest alien heroes. I also gave an interview to USA Today’s HEA blog, where I discuss being waylaid by my muse in the shower along with other odds and ends.

Okay, so as I was saying, I just got back from vacation. Obviously, that cut into writing time. But I have managed a little progress on the WIPs. So without further ado…

Shalia’s Diary Book 9 – I’m about three-quarters of the way done with this one. Again, there could be a space of a few weeks between Book 8 wrapping up on the blog and this one coming out. Bad Ju-Ju June and vacation have caused delays that could not be helped, but I’m doing what I can to get Book 9 out as soon as possible.

Clans of Kalquor 10: Alien Hostage – Now available internationally via Amazon. You can get the e-book now in the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, and all the other places I would dearly love to visit, as well as directly from the publisher Totally Bound.

Clans of Kalquor 1: Alien Embrace – Pretty new cover and edited for international audiences, Alien Embrace will re-release outside the U.S. It is now on pre-order and will be available directly from
Totally Bound August 2. General re-release is scheduled for August 30, and mass market print is tentatively slated for October.

Portals to Risnar: Not of This World – Quite a few publishers have expressed interest in looking the first book of my new science fiction romance series. It’s now a matter of waiting and hoping. I feel I’m ready to move my writing career to the next level. Hopefully, some of these pubs will agree.

Clan Beginnings: Clan and Command – Poor Piras. Demanding Dramok on the streets, submissive between the sheets. He’s got problems, not the least of which is the Nobek captain who won’t let Piras lie to anyone (including himself), and the dual breed Imdiko-Dramok engineer who doesn’t allow anyone push him around (even a temperamental Dramok admiral and a forceful Nobek captain). Add in a spy mission that means Piras must turn on his beloved Empire and play the traitor, and things get crazier still. I continue to outline this wild tale with hopes I’ll have it done before the year is out.

And there you have it. I hope your August is fab!

  1. I for one cannot wait for Risnar. :-) All of your writing is fabulous, but it's always something special to have a bit of 'new' added in. Like adding a bit of cayenne to grandma's beloved chicken casserole every now and then. A little kick to keep 'em coming back for seconds.

    1. No. The producer and I ended up on different pages. This time wasn't meant to be.

    1. Unfortunately, there will be a wait. I just found out my cover artist's high-risk pregnancy has her on total bed rest. We're looking at early October at the soonest, but healthy baby and mom trump book releases!
