WIP Wednesday – Clan Beginnings: Clan and Crown

Clajak’s gentle smile turned into a mischievous grin. He grabbed his formsuit from the bath facility and slid it on. One more night of fun, one last game of chase, and maybe one extra lesson on letting loose for his soon-to-be clanmate. Then he would go home and cheerfully clan his long-desired Imdiko.
Clajak grabbed his boots from the floor and slunk back into the sleeping room. He froze when Egilka muttered in his sleep and shifted. He watched as the Imdiko moved about on the bed, perhaps seeking the prince’s warmth. After a couple of seconds, Egilka subsided and sank into unmoving silence again.
Clajak looked at the handsome, sleeping face. Egilka looked so very peaceful right now. Looking at the Imdiko like that made the prince realize how grim the older man usually looked. Yes, Egilka had placed entirely too much stock in nonstop duty. His reasons were valid, but still...
The thought brought up the memory of another Egilka. An angry Egilka who had once turned on Clajak, throwing a barrage of fists, his face a mask of utter rage.

WIP Wednesday – Clan Beginnings: Clan and Crown

Egilka was a tough nut to crack. That he’d not had a lover for two years – two years! – told Clajak they still had some issues to settle. The Imdiko might be older, wiser, and far more responsible than the prince, but there were some areas in which Egilka still had some growth due.
Clajak eased back from the other man, watching closely to make sure he didn’t wake. It seemed counterintuitive to leave Egilka’s bed now that they’d finally gotten a taste of one another. Yet Clajak knew he had some thinking to do. He couldn’t parse out his next move objectively, not when the warmth of the Imdiko was pressed against him, not when that long, lovely body lay naked next to him.
He thought, you’ll still chase me, my duty-bound lover. But not far. And not for long.
He pulled away and got to his feet by the mat. He looked down on the slumbering Egilka. Clajak’s cocks gave a jerk, looking over the lithe lines of that delicious body. He had enjoyed fucking Egilka, just as he’d known he would. He looked forward to all the encounters they would have over their shared lifetime, to exploring the Imdiko’s desires and fantasies. It was going to be a grand adventure, if Egilka would relax long enough to appreciate it. The challenge would be getting past the man’s rigid thinking and behavior. To convince Egilka that there was more to life than duty driven by promises made to one who could no longer benefit from them. To show him there was indeed joy after heartbreak and grief.
The slight smile on the Imdiko’s face smoothed out the harsher planes. Clajak smiled. He would be good for Egilka, maybe as much as Egilka would be good for him.

WIP Wednesday – Clan Beginnings: Clan and Crown

Egilka said, “Clajak, fortunately I know there is more to you than drinking and fucking.  That exclusive contract with the Grynaryt must have been a bitch to wrangle. The trade negotiations with the Adraf you carried out before coming here were quite a coup.  Merchants are proclaiming you a hero at the cut in duty fees they’ll have to pay.”
Clajak’s devilish grin returned. “That escapade was entirely too respectable.  Now I must destroy my people’s goodwill with ribald debauchery lest they expect more wonderful things from me.”
Egilka rolled his eyes. While members of the Royal Council often made pointed remarks about Clajak’s excesses, there was no doubt Kalquorians adored their crown prince. Clajak was decent enough to represent the Empire well in trade agreements and wild enough to keep the population entertained. Kalquorians loved to hear of his various exploits.
Egilka told him, “I’ve had enough excitement to last me for a little while.  Once we get home and your parents are content with me getting you there and we have made them happy by giving them their clanning ceremony, do whatever you please.”

WIP Wednesday – Clan Beginnings: Clan and Crown

Clajak groaned. “Egilka, every time I see you, you have work to do.  Every time we’ve gotten together in a purely social setting, you tell me you have work to do.”
“That’s not true.” He rubbed the bridge of his nose.
Clajak’s voice beyond his closed lids wouldn’t shut up. “Really? I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard, ‘Clajak, if you just wanted to sit around and drink, you can do that on your own.  I’ve got work to do.’  Or even, ‘My prince, this meeting wasn’t so you could show me vids of Plasian girls having sex.  If that’s all we’re going to do, I’m leaving because I have work to do.’”
“Those meetings were meant for us to get to know each other, not get drunk and watch porn.”
The disgusted sound Clajak made spurred Egilka’s eyes open. Clajak had settled on a matching chair across from him and glared at him with temper. “Maybe all there is to me is booze and sex.”
“I know better than that. If you believe it, you’ve been listening to your detractors too much.”
Clajak barked a harsh laugh. “I listen to them just to repeat the behaviors they hate the most. It’s childish, but I like to rub their noses in it. You plug along, doing what’s expected, and they still criticize you too.”
He was right. However, Egilka had no interest in what men like Councilman Pwaldur and his ilk thought of him. “I am committed to doing all I can to benefit the Empire.”
Clajak nodded. “That’s right. And your epitaph will be, ‘Here is the life of Imdiko Egilka. He had work to do.’”
“I have a promise to fulfill.” One he should be working on even now, if only Clajak would cooperate for a change.
Clajak’s eyes flooded with sudden sympathy. Unable to face it, Egilka averted his gaze. He hoped the other man wouldn’t pursue the subject. It had already brought them to blows once before. That time had been because Clajak had been utterly thoughtless and Egilka had reacted before he thought. Seeing the compassion in his intended’s face assured Egilka that the lesson had been learned. He still didn’t want to talk about it. After all this time, it continued to hurt like hell.
He needed to get home. He needed to get back to work.

May 2015 Update

Shalia’s Diary –Candy’s bizarre behavior, a saboteur on the ship, and Shalia under lock and key are on the menu for May.

Shalia’s Diary Book 5 is out. If you like having this one in your library, grab it at Amazon, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, and All Romance. Also in print.

Netherworld IV: Animal Attraction – Over halfway finished outlining. No release date set.

Clan Beginnings: Clan and Crown— Writing, writing, writing. One moment Clajak and Egilka want to strangle each other, the next it’s all passion. In between, they’ve got an outraged Bi’isil trying to enslave them and an Adraf holding them for ransom. I’m not sure when was the last time I had so much fun with a story. Release date: mid-December.

Brianna’s Clan – For ages, readers have wanted to see a clan come together all at once, including the Matara. The request to let an Earther woman put together her own clan has been made more times than I can count. Ask and ye shall receive. For that reason, this book (not part of the main Clans of Kalquor series) will contain m/m/m sex as well as m/f/m/m. Release date: June 2016.

Chronicles of Kalquor (working title of the television show): We are still wrangling with the pilot script, but inching forward towards a final product to woo networks and cable channels with. I am working with a producer who knows his stuff, and his guidance has shown me how little I know when it comes to pacing and structure of episodic television – but I am learning.

Yes, this version of Kalquor will depart somewhat from the books, but I realized that was inevitable when I embarked on this project. In all honesty, I’m loving where we’re going with this. We start off with the events of Alien Embrace with Clan Rajhir and Amelia. Also involved are some back story elements with Clans Clajak and Tranis. That’s where it is right now, at least. I can guarantee that if this gets sold, changes to the current script are inevitable. Such is the mayhem of putting together a final script. But for the moment, some of your favorite clans are set to make an appearance. And yes, we have every intention of casting the hunkiest, most drool-worthy men as our heroes!

BIG THANKS to those of you who have written reviews for my books on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, All Romance, and Smashwords. I would like to thank particularly those who went above and beyond by posting reviews for ALL the books, not just Alien Embrace, Alien Rule, and the newest one Alien Indiscretions. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the valuable time and effort you made on my behalf.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I truly love my readers!
