Though it had
appeared terribly hurt, the child moved fast. No sooner had Bacoj caught sight
of it when it did that peculiar Dantovonian hop-crawl, the bent leg dragging,
but not impeding the kid’s progress in the least. In an instant, it was a mere
outline in the mist once again.
“Don’t be scared.
Let me help you find your parents.” He rushed forward, noting in the back of
his mind that the little one was fleeing down an alley. Intent on helping the
injured child, he lost all sense of where he was, vaguely aware of the
buildings on either side and the fading sounds of the vendors behind him.
All at once, Bacoj
found himself halted by a wooden fence that stretched between the structures.
The Dantovonian cringed in the corner of the dead-end alley.
Bacoj stopped, not
wanting to frighten the youngster anymore than it already was. He squatted down
a few feet from the Dantovonian and smiled gently. “Hi, little one. How did
your leg get hurt? Are your parents nearby?”
The child stared up
at him, its show of terror vanishing. Footsteps sounded behind Bacoj, and the
Dantovonian’s gaze shifted to over his shoulder. Way over his shoulder.
Bacoj twisted about
to see three large Adrafs emerging from the fog. He had no idea who they were,
but he immediately saw the injector one held. Paired with the intent
expressions they wore, alarms went off in Bacoj’s head. He’d been set up for an
ambush.
Preparing for war. Fending off a vengeful
stalker. It’s the perfect time for romance on Kalquor.
In

away. Then he meets the perfect man, Imdiko Vax. Unfortunately, Vax is a firm
believer in career before love, so he’s unavailable for courtship. Or is he?
Fending off a vengeful stalker, he turns to Bacoj for help, and discovers a
romance he can’t easily set aside.
Nobek
Japohn is all the protector a clan could hope for. However, the young warrior’s
personality isn’t geared toward working well with others. Yet when he sees the
handsome pair of Bacoj and Vax in the sort of trouble only he can save them
from, long-shattered hopes rise anew. Maybe he can be part of a clan, if
they’ll only give him a chance…
…and
if a lunatic bent on murder doesn’t kill them first.
