August 2016 Update

I’m a couple of days early for August, but we can live with that, right? I knew you could handle it.

I’m back from a lovely vacation that took me into Canada for a boat ride on the St. Lawrence River plus lunch and dinner (yay poutine and Tim Horton’s coffee!!!), upstate New York for some mountain trail hiking and family visiting, Lancaster County, PA for some train museum fun, and North Carolina to visit more family. Now it’s time to recover from vacation and ready myself for the start of cyber-school with Kiddo.

Oh yeah, and there are books to be written too. Can’t forget about those.

But before I get into the WIPs and where I am on them, I’d like to plug a couple of guest spots I did this past week. First, you can check out the blog I wrote for Fresh Fiction, where I tell the tale of how drunken friends at happy hour are instrumental in developing the hottest alien heroes. I also gave an interview to USA Today’s HEA blog, where I discuss being waylaid by my muse in the shower along with other odds and ends.

Okay, so as I was saying, I just got back from vacation. Obviously, that cut into writing time. But I have managed a little progress on the WIPs. So without further ado…

Shalia’s Diary Book 9 – I’m about three-quarters of the way done with this one. Again, there could be a space of a few weeks between Book 8 wrapping up on the blog and this one coming out. Bad Ju-Ju June and vacation have caused delays that could not be helped, but I’m doing what I can to get Book 9 out as soon as possible.

Clans of Kalquor 10: Alien Hostage – Now available internationally via Amazon. You can get the e-book now in the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, and all the other places I would dearly love to visit, as well as directly from the publisher Totally Bound.

Clans of Kalquor 1: Alien Embrace – Pretty new cover and edited for international audiences, Alien Embrace will re-release outside the U.S. It is now on pre-order and will be available directly from
Totally Bound August 2. General re-release is scheduled for August 30, and mass market print is tentatively slated for October.

Portals to Risnar: Not of This World – Quite a few publishers have expressed interest in looking the first book of my new science fiction romance series. It’s now a matter of waiting and hoping. I feel I’m ready to move my writing career to the next level. Hopefully, some of these pubs will agree.

Clan Beginnings: Clan and Command – Poor Piras. Demanding Dramok on the streets, submissive between the sheets. He’s got problems, not the least of which is the Nobek captain who won’t let Piras lie to anyone (including himself), and the dual breed Imdiko-Dramok engineer who doesn’t allow anyone push him around (even a temperamental Dramok admiral and a forceful Nobek captain). Add in a spy mission that means Piras must turn on his beloved Empire and play the traitor, and things get crazier still. I continue to outline this wild tale with hopes I’ll have it done before the year is out.

And there you have it. I hope your August is fab!

July 2016 Update

June was a hell month for me. An infection, bum knee, food poisoning, broken air conditioning, and a tree catching on fire in the backyard made for Bad Ju-ju June. Let’s never do that month again, okay? Even having firefighters at my home did not make up for the clusterf*ck that was last month.

Unfortunately, my run of evil luck impacted my writing schedule. I think we’re going to see delays, but I’ll do my best to make up for time lost.

Shalia’s Diary Book 9 – This one was where I saw the least work done. There may be some serious lag time of a few weeks between Book 8 wrapping on the blog and me getting Book 9 out. I’m aiming for fall, but we’ll have to see how it works out.

Clans of Kalquor 10: Alien Hostage – This is now available to international readers via Totally Bound’s website, which you can access here. General release is scheduled for July 26 (that’s Amazon). Mass market print is not looking to happen until next year due to house scheduling.

Clans of Kalquor 1: Alien Embrace – Pretty new cover and edited for international audiences, Alien Embrace will re-release outside the U.S. It goes on pre-order July 19 and will be available directly from Totally Bound August 2. General re-release is scheduled for August 30, and mass market print is tentatively slated for October.

Portals to Risnar: Not of This World – My super wonderful agent is shopping the completed book to publishers, first of a new science fiction romance series. Romance, my loves, not erotica. It still has some serious sizzle though!

A victim of repeated alien abductions since childhood, Jeannie Gardner is experimented on by a race called the Monsuda. When returned to Earth, she does her best to live a normal though lonely existence. Taken by the aliens yet again, Jeannie runs away from her tormentors and finds herself on a planet far from Earth. Naked and starving, she’s all but given herself up for lost when another species stumbles across her and offers help. But are these striped people who call themselves the Risnarish friend or foe?

Kren Bolep is head of law enforcement for the Risnar village of Hahz. He doesn’t know what to make of the odd creature with her unarmored skin, clawless fingers, and fangless mouth. All he knows is that she comes from an enemy lab, and Monsudan creations must be destroyed.

Despite the obstacles of different languages and customs, Jeannie and Kren forge an unlikely bond. For Jeannie, Kren offers the chance to trust in others once again. To Kren, Jeannie represents the longed-for companionship the women of his own species can’t give him. Desire grows as they surmount the obstacles that cannot keep them apart.

Yet Jeannie must prove to the governing Assembly of Risnar that she is not a Monsudan creation, destined for execution. Even if she and Kren can convince the Elders, another danger looms: the Monsuda want their lab subject back and will do everything in their power to reclaim her.

Clan Beginnings: Clan and Command – Again, massive delays have been experienced due to the crappiest month on record. This may not get out until winter rather than fall as I originally planned.

Do not be like me. Be safe and healthy and wonderful this month! Hugs!
